Time Magazine labeled inflammation as the secret killer because inflammation masquerades around our body as the myriad of symptoms we are experiencing on an escalating scale:
- Weight loss resistance
- Toxins – exposure in the air, water we drink, the foods we eat, our cosmetics, cleaners to name a few
- Depression
- Brain fog
- Leaky Gut
- Bloating
- Chronic headaches
- Fatigue
- Allergies
- Gluten and food sensitivity
- Joint pain
- Sleeplessness
In fact, research shows inflammation is at the root of most diseases that we label as “getting older” or “working too much and are just tired” or the seasons and all of the pollens blamed for creating and causing your “allergies” … ignoring what our body is attempting to tell us.
Research also shows the link between the breakdown of our healthy gut bacteria from things such as over use of antibiotics, over the counter pain relievers, poor food choices, over consumption of sugar, processed foods, stress, and more, to be the overall driving force of these symptoms that if left undone, lead to the diagnosis of many illnesses and disease states:
- Cancer
- Heart disease
- Colon cancer
- Neurological disease: Parkinson, MS, dementia, Alzheimer
- Autism
- Diabetes
- Lyme disease
- Obesity
- Crohn’s or other gut diseases
- Auto-immune conditions
- Arthritis
What is Inflammation? Acute Inflammation
Acute inflammation is our body’s normal physiological response to injury or pathogen invasion and is a protective mechanism when controlled. It is when inflammation becomes chronic and the immune system is called upon continually that symptoms become illness and/or disease.

Chronic inflammation weakens the natural process of acute inflammation, which can lead to:
- Weakened immune state
- Elevated blood glucose
- Oxidative burden
- Adrenal fatigue and more
Chronic Inflammation Can Lead To…

The driving cause of inflammation is our lifestyle choices, foods we eat, stress, our mind set, and toxins. Over time these constant insults cause the body to throw up it’s preverbal hands saying I don’t know what else to do here. And the symptoms begin, leading to illness and then diagnosis of a disease.
The secret killer?
Makes sense when you think these things don’t happen over night…they come as a result of long time insults.
Why am I writing all of this? It is my deep passion to help raise awareness to how making different choices will change your health and your life…. To continue to treat only the symptoms and not the cause leads us down a dead-end street. Drugs don’t heal….they are great to temporarily address symptoms, yet often they stop working….because the cause is still lying below the surface!
